On-line resources for APA format

October 30th, 2007 by Steve

When you cite outside sources in your essay, you need to provide an in-text citation (see #1) and a citation in a list at the end of your paper (see #2).

1.  http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/02/  This page provides basic information about in-text citations in APA format.  In-text citations appear in the text of your essay to show the source of material from an outside source.  A typical in-text citation consists of the author’s last name and the date of publication, e.g. (Couture, 2007).  At the bottom of the webpage there are links to other pages about APA formatting.

2.  http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/10/  This page provides information about how to format electronic sources in your reference list.  This will be useful for citing the on-line articles I have provided.

1.  Do steps 5 and 6 of the survey assignment.  Revise your survey questions if necessary.  I recommend having someone at the Writing Center or another native speaker take a look at them to make sure they are understandable.  “Test” your questions by interviewing one or two American students to make sure that you are getting the type information you want.  You may find that you need to add or revise questions.

2.  Bring any questions you have about the article related to your survey topic.

3.  Revisions of Essay 2 are due October 30.  Identify areas you have questions about and have access to an electronic version on Thursday; I will give you time to work on it and ask questions.
